Eyeliner Tattoo Precare & Aftercare
Precare
Avoid using retinols, acids, anti-aging products, or acne products on the upper lid one month prior to appointment.
Refrain from using lash enhancement serums for at least one month prior to your appointment.
Avoid sun/ tanning bed exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the tattoo pigment with it.
Cosmetic botox/fillers should be completed 2 weeks in advance.
Discontinue the use of fish oil and Vitamin E one week prior to appointment.
Lash extensions must be removed at least two days prior to appointment.
Do not consume alcohol or blood thinners (aspirin, ibuprofen) 48 hours before your procedure. Do not consume caffeine for 24 hours prior to your appointment. These will reduce the chances of bleeding complications or bruising during your cosmetic tattoo procedure.
Do not wear contact lenses during the appointment.
Do not wear eye makeup to the appointment.
Ensure you do not have a stye or any other eye infection or irritation, if you do, please reschedule!
Aftercare
On the first night, splash your eyes with cool water to wash off any pigment residue. Pat dry gently with a clean tissue or towel.
Wash the skin around the eyes twice a day (morning and night) using a gentle, unscented soap. Use your fingertips to cleanse gently and pat dry with a clean tissue.
Avoid using chemical exfoliants or heavy creams on the eyes, as they may cause fading.
Avoid activities that cause sweating for three days.
For two weeks, avoid applying any makeup to the eye area. *PRO TIP: You may want to book a Lash Lift and Tint prior to your eyeliner tattoo appointment to help with ditching your mascara!* Please plan for this appointment to take place at least 48 hours prior to your eyeliner appointment.
Do not scratch or remove scabs, dry skin, or flakiness, as it can result in color loss.
Avoid using Vaseline, Neosporin, and other petroleum-based products.
Refrain from swimming in pools, hot tubs, or bodies of water for two weeks.
Stay away from UV exposure, including tanning beds.
Avoid laser light therapy.
What to expect
Your eyelids may be slightly swollen for 24-72 hours, which is normal.
To relieve swelling, you can apply a soft gel ice pack and take ibuprofen or Benadryl as needed.
Do not pick or peel any scabs.
The color may lighten approximately 30-50% once healed, which is normal. Additional color can be added during the touch-up session.
Initial touchup is recommended 6-12 weeks after the first appointment. It is important not to skip your touchup as it will ensure good/even color saturation and provides an opportunity to fine tune the final shape and color. Results last 2-5 years.
